Sunday Punk film Matinee! 1991 – The Year that Punk Broke

23 May

Good afternoon there scum bots

Today is going a bit slowly. yesterday we went on a trip to a Microbrewery in what surely have been one of the most inappropriate (or perhaps the best) decisions i´ve ever made. There was a LOT of beer drunk and the resulting BBQ/Party back at Haukur & Julia´s flat was most excellent. There may have also been a bit of fist-pumping at a gay bar later on, but nothing much can be proved at this point!

So today to relax and take things in, i give you your required Punk film viewing for the day. “1991 – the year that punk broke” is a documentary recounting Sonic Youth´s 1991 tour with Nirvana. The film includes performances by Dinosaur Jr, Babes In Toyland, The Ramones and Gumball.

So okay it is not really old or new school punk, but it does detail the rise of US grunge at the time.
