Everyone is tired. Everyone is VERY tired. As the days get shorter and the wind and cold starts to bite, my hibernation habits start to kick in and all I want to do is wrap up in a duvet, turn the lights off and set my alarm on my mobile phone for 3 months time.
Plus today was a day of no great importance and of certain miniscule achievement. Basically spent it watching old BBC documentaries of Scottish poets and the old UK National Grid. Only for it be spoilt by a lot of angry confused people on the BBC’s question time programme. I have to stop using this BBC iPlayer. It’s very addictive.
But of course it’s the music that matters. A couple of days ago I saw the trailer to the upcoming Hollywood move “Battle: Los Angeles” and it all looked meh and ho-hum. But the soundtrack accompanying the alien apocalypse porn was both enigmatic and slightly familiar. Of course it was the electrified vocoder vocals that was the giveaway as 2 minutes later I realised that it was Icelandic ambient soundtrack master JÓHANN JÓHANNSSON, and his 2006 piece ” The Sun’s Gone Dim And The Sky’s Turned Black”. The sound of sad weeping robots trying to clutch at the light at the end of the binary quantum tunnel.
