Music Moment: LUMERIANS, “Gaussian Castles”

24 Mar

tikkatakkatikkatakkatikkatakka…..

´Scuse me a minute…. (gulp). Sorry about that, just downing some cod liver oil to combat the RSI and grinding in my knuckles and finger joints as i’Ve spent most of tonight trying to get my little thought polyps down on the old computer screen before they dissipate into the rubbish chute of my brain. Simply put, i’M trying to put together a piece about about the middle classes in Iceland. Yes, there is such a thing, and if i can make this stream on consciousness into something palatable then you may even get to read it too. Let’s see if i can get it done by the tomorrow…

So I’ve not been able to get some music thoughts down on the blog but i read an interesting piece in a spare moment tonight on how the Stone Roses, Oasis and Primal Scream basically killed Indie and the music press in the 90’s. It’s a very thought-provoking read and put a lot of nostalgia into a very harsh light of hindsight. Got me thinking a bit about the live scene in Shetland in the early 90’s. and interesting time it was too, but more on that at a later date.

As for tonight’s music i came across this video for the song Gaussian Castles by Californian band LUMERIANS. they play rather far out psychedelic space rock and have often been filmed playing in monks habits and masks. This video though doesn’t show the band at work, rather a concerted attempt to induce grand mal seizures upon unsuspecting people. Try not to blink or bit off your tongue when watching this video ok?

Goodnight…
