Reykjavik Grapevine: Album Reviews: Dathi and Spacevestite

10 Aug

A couple of titbit albums reviews for ya….

First up, “Dark Days” by the Troubadour of Doom, Dathi. I love this kind of stuff. Acoustic music that’s relentlessly teetering on the brink of oblivion. Although i said it was apocalyptic folk, the turmoil and desolations comes from within. Apocalypse of the soul if you will. You can stream the album HERE

Next up is the Self titled album from Spacevestite. Alas this album was really piss poor. An attempt at psychedelia that bordered on the moribund. It was interesting that they also tried to shoehorn in an early 90s indie feel as well (you can see it with the album cover). However i remember a lot of indie bands at the time also trying to sound like this, and there was a reason why they didn’t succeed. If you really feel that burning desire to listen to them (why?), then you can stream the album HERE.
