Bad Taste Video Moment: Peter Wyngarde, “Rape”

25 Sep

Definitely something you don’t want to see on your RSS feeder on a Sunday morning…

For those who don’t know who he is, Peter Wyngarde is an actor best known for playing the role of Jason King in the cult ’60s TV drama Department S. If you’ve read Grant Morrison’s “The Invisibles” then the role of Mister Six is directly based on Jason King.

So Peter Wyngarde recorded a self titled album in 1970 for RCA records. It’s a towering monument fo easy listening cheese and weird spoken word monologues, but then this track starts to play and… well i would like to know who actually green lighted this piece in the first place.

All you can say is that it’s definitely different, but believe me i don’t agree with the track AT ALL! It’s racist, sexist, misogynistic and has very bad sense in facial hair. Oh and the rest of the album mines a rich seam of Lolita style incest and bestiality that even the likes of Serge Gainsbourg would think of as a “Bit Much”. Try to see it as a snapshot of a darker, rougher era…
